I first heard about the care provided by Dorothy House when my sister in-law’s father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He was an outpatient at Winsley before he got too unwell to leave the house. The care that you provided for him in his home was a real eye opener. I had only ever thought of Dorothy House as a charity shop (shame on me) but from stair lifts to shower aids, hospital beds to 24-hour care, it was all provided, and free of charge.
You will never know how touched we all were by this.
Since then you have cared for my husband’s grandfather. I visited Winsley when Grandad was being looked after there. I was amazed at what a beautiful, peaceful place it was. The staff were so lovely and the grounds are fantastic!
The continued care and support that you offer through Dorothy House Hospice Care is a lifeline to families in their darkest hours. And the care doesn’t stop when a loved one dies.
Last year our various family members raised funds for you. ‘Team Trotters’ ran the Battle of Landsdown, my sister-in-law held an auction of promises at Grittleton House and some of us ran your first Bubble Run.
It’s our way of saying thank you 🙂
